The most obvious benefit of online gambling is the convenience factor. You can play 24/7 from the comfort of your home, and have access to hundreds of games all in one spot. Playing online also gives you access to additional tools you can use to monitor your playing, such as how well you're doing in each game, as well as the ability to maintain a full transactions log of all your activity. You're also privy to some great bonuses and promotions no matter your spending persuasion, whereas you'd have to be a big spender to get any kind of special treatment from a real world casino.

The convenience factor that stands as a shining pro also registers as a slight drawback. Whereas getting dressed up and heading out to a real world casino is likely not something most people would want to do excessively, one could become overly addicted to online casinos and spend exorbitant amounts of time playing at them because of the convenience. While this in and of itself is not a huge drawback (after all, there are plenty of other distractions you could get addicted to, online or off), one does run the risk of having their finances put into disarray if they hit a very rough patch and can't manage to tear themselves away from their new digital chocolate.
Another slight drawback are the withdrawal times. Whereas you'd be paid your winnings immediately at a brick-and-mortar casino (assuming you didn't hit the jackpot), you must wait an additional period of time to withdraw your winnings online, in addition to having to go through the initial identity verification process.
