Action ~ Refers to any amount wagered on something. If a table is seeing a lot of action, it means it's being bet heavily.
Bad Beat ~ This refers to any tough loss where it looked like the player was set to win, but suffered a devastating loss. Most commonly heard in regards to poker, sports, and horse racing.
Bankroll ~ The total amount of funds available to a player for betting. A player's bankroll determines their betting strategy for many games, as far as how aggressive they can be.
Blackjack ~ The name of the card game itself, and also the name of the pair of cards that make it up; an ace and any 10, the best possible hand in the game.
Bust ~ Another blackjack term, this one refers to going over 21, which is an automatic loss.
Dime ~ $1,000 wager.
Dollar ~ $100 wager.
Face Cards ~ In any game or deck of cards, the face cards are the jack, queen, and king.
Flat Bet ~ A betting amount that the player continues to make, regardless of winning or losing.
Grinder ~ A player who wagers small amounts of money.
Hole Card ~ A card dealt face down on the table, often belonging to the dealer.
Nickel ~ $500 wager.
Surrender ~ A term used when one wishes to end a hand of blackjack before it's conclusion, at half the cost. A wise move under certain conditions where the odds of winning are minimal.
Tapped Out ~ When a player has lost all their money. Also known as busting.
