Double Double Bonus Poker is a 5-card draw video poker game, with slight variations in its winning hands from traditional poker that bring some new strategy to the game. Double Double Bonus Poker is available for mobile devices, as well as desktop computers.

Like traditional draw poker, you're dealt 5 cards to begin the game, and have one turn to discard unwanted cards and receive new ones in their place. After that the game will be over and if your hand meets the minimum requirements (any pair of jacks or higher) for a winning hand, you'll receive your payout.

In addition to all of the standard poker payouts, there are a few special variations that offer big rewards. whereas a 4-of-a-kind with aces pays 640, one with a 5th card being a 2, 3, or 4 pays an impressive 2,000. The same goes with a 4-of-a-kind consisting of 2's, 3's, or 4's; when the 5th card is another 2, 3, or 4, or an ace, the reward double from 320 to 640. This can make for some interesting dilemmas when you flop 3-of-a-kind, along with another card that would give you the 4-of-a-kind bonus. Do you keep all 4 and take one shot at the big prize, or keep only your matching 3 and have 2 chances to get your 4th card? This is especially relevant in multi-hand mode, where you can play up to 100 hands at the same time, with your held cards counting for all 100 hands. It can give you a lot to think about as far as which play is statistically the most likely to bring you the greatest reward.

There's also a bonus feature that can be activated after any winning hand which lets you try to double your winnings (or lose them). You'll be dealt random cards, one face up, the rest face down. You'll be tasked with choosing a card from those that are face down that is a higher value than your face up card. This bonus game doesn't offer quite the same strategy as the color or suit guessing bonus game in other video poker titles, as it's essentially completely out of your control. Still, it's a fun diversion and provides an easy way to double some of your wins, if luck is on your side.

Final Verdict

Double Double Bonus Poker is a nice variation of the classic video poker game that brings some new strategy to the table, and a new bonus mode to compete in. Whether you're a video poker master, or a novice to the scene, it's a great version to try out or get started on.
